As Awakenings draws close with formal testing starting next week, we need to continue to get ready in as many ways as possible, for what will be an exciting and challenging time in the world of Mortal Online.
It is key that we work closely with our community and to that end we have decided to appoint a new Community Manager, I am pleased to announce that Theia has agreed to take up this role as both champion and conduit of the player-base.
We will be making some adjustments in the way we try to interface and spend our time, gather feedback and look at sensible changes (within the context of our current development path) driven from the Community with Theia as the lead on this. More on this in the next few weeks but expect Community meetings and other events.
In the meantime can I please ask you to welcome Theia to the CM role and both help and support him in any way that you can in what will surely be an extremely challenging time.

many thanks to everyone that applied to be testers in the new Focus Group. We had more than 80 applicants in total, so we had a large pool to draw from.
Over the next 48 hours those who are through to the next round and an interview will be contacted through a PM and asked to attend one of two group meetings.
To those of you who are not contacted through a PM can I sincerely thank you for your application, encourage you to apply the next time we recruit and remind you that we had many applicants from the same time zones so not getting through this times does not mean that you won't in the future.

A large number of applications were received by community members to be a part of the Focus Group. These applications were reviewed by the In-Game Support Team and interviews conducted to determine the members of the Focus Group.
A total of 36 members form of the Focus Group comprising a wealth of experience in the game. There are members who have been a part of the Mortal Online community since Beta Block A and B as well some newer members to the community.
In addition to the length of time playing Mortal Online, the in-game play style and character experience was also considered. The Focus Group is testing every aspect of the game so it is important to have members who play every aspect of the game. Therefore whilst a large majority of the Focus Group have strong skills in PvP, there are also members who are very experienced in extracting, refining, weapon and armor crafting, taming, cooking, fishing, butchery, guild and territory control and so on.
In line with have a balanced approach to player experience and skills, the same approach was taken on guild membership. Guilds bring a dynamic perspective to Mortal Online both in the way the game is played, but also how players interact. That being said, not being in a guild also has a unique aspect to the game. Therefore to ensure this aspect is considered and the experience of this player type is understood and facted into the testing, 8 members of the Focus Group are not part of a guild. The remaining 24 members are from 8 different Mortal Online guilds and no single guild has more than 4 members in the Focus Group.
In the coming week, you will start to see in the Mortal Online Forums tags recognizing and acknowledging the contributions of members of the Focus Group. These tags are optional for the Focus Group as some members may not want to be recognized, may not want the attention or most importantly some members already have tags recognizing their achievements in the game.
We have set ourselves the aim of providing a Focus Group Community Update every week. This will range from a good overview of activities such as this update to a simply update saying nothing done this week. The objective here is to provide a steady stream of communication about what is going on with the testing.
We will ask for quotes and direct feedback from members of the Focus Group each week to present different perspectives on what the members think of what they are testing.
The journey towards Awakening for the Focus Group commenced on March 22nd. Henrik joined those available team members in TeamSpeak for an initial briefing as the first test client was released.
The initial testing focused on the following:
The 64-bit client - test everything you would normally do in-game. This new client provided an opportunity to look at all game mechanics and dynamic performance across the whole game. A testing list of some 310 activities to be worked through and whilst this list is expanding as we go, it only includes pre-set game mechanics such as crafting, extracting, building a house, etc. It does not include dynamic performance such as PvP and AI.
AI Guards - the first guards of Nave descend upon Meduli to take control. This is a work-in-progress for the Dev Team and gave us the opportunity to get a first look and give feedback as they develop. Bugs and feedback from the Focus Group already led to initial changes with how guards respond, how agro they are, how effective their attacks are and to what extent they call upon each other for help.
