Former Earache records artists Anal Cunt were generally controversial and brought more verbal animosity than any other Earache artist. In October 2004, Anal Cunt frontman Seth Putnam slipped into a life threatening coma. As to be expected, the reactions from Seth's trip to death's door were mixed at best. Seth remained in comatose until November 2004 when he regained consciousness. He recently sat down for an interview with the legendary Boston Phoenix newspaper and it can be viewed online here
Seth also contributed to an article/interview about his actions which caused the coma, and his road to recovery in the December issue of Decibel Magazine.
Defying expectations of being in a vegetative state, Putnam survived with a degree of paralysis that has forced him to work his way up to a leg brace and cane at the moment. Even more surprising and amazing, Seth plans to continue to front Anal Cunt and has already played a few post-coma live shows.
Seth and Anal Cunt have brought laughter and hatred to many throughout the years and Earache records continues to wish Seth the best of luck during his recovery. The band has been able to go on countless tours, and appeared on over 50 records throughout their career and we hope for them to continue for years to come.
