“Life is feudal” is an upcoming enthusiast project of sandbox MMORPG, set in realistic medieval fictional world. Let me describe every word in previous sentence.
Sandbox, means that our goal is to design virtual world with its own set of mechanisms and rules that will let players to do anything within the world, that their imagination desire. It’s like a real sandbox, where you get a lot of sand, get some tools and your hands so you can do, whatever you want – dig a tunnels, shovel moats, build castles, raise hills.
Exactly the same things you will be able to do in our game: you can shape terrain in any way you like – raise ground, lower ground, flatten it for futher building placements, dig tunnels, find ore veins and mine them. You can even build whole underground cities, since you are not limited with width or height of your tunnels. You can make a huge pyramid with your friends, and dig a maze inside of it just for fun. Only limitation – is your imagination! Take a look at our pre alpha videos to get a better understanding of the words above.
If you don’t want to dwell underground, you can make a home for yourself, a whole village, town or even castle. And you can also make it sandbox-style. We will let you build whole castle wall with sections, so you can stretch it however you like. Who knows, maybe you will be the first one to build Great Wall in our world. Same goes to buildings – you can either choose to use preset buildings (like windmills, warehouses, keeps etc.) or design you own multistory building per square and build them. MMORPG stands for massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It means, that you won’t be alone in your sandbox, that a lot of other players will be helping you or preventing you from reaching your goals, or shaping our virtual world. It also means, that there will be an RPG system, based on: statcap and skillcap concepts (UO style), alignment, rich crafting system spiced with innovative flash minigames concept (Video is coming soon…)
Meaning of that phrase is following: we are inspired by realistic medieval ages (since fall of Rome till gunpowder in Europe) in all aspect of our game building process. But on the other hand, story, race archetypes, some equipment and items are fictional, religion is more powerful in our world, allowing some localized wonders to appear or giving powers for players to recall back home or protect their divine private property from vandals. So it’s neither historical simulation game with 100% authenticity, nor we will have elves or orcs in game – it is something in-between, but close to historical part.
Realism also goes to the game balance – middle ages are ages of strength, courage, steel and blood. Our melee combat system will not be limited by only RPG stats counting, like: strength + skill level + weapon damage – armor = damage received. We will also count physical aspects – type of damage (slashing, piercing, blunt), speed of weapon prior player hit, body part hit. Players will receive wounds of several severity, even bone fractures, which will affect their performance in battle. Ranged combat is also going to be presented by bows, crossbows, throwing weaponry and even alchemists grenades. (Video is coming soon…)
Only part of that sentence, which has left unexplained is “upcoming enthusiast project”. Currently we’re in pre alpha stage. That means, that we have graphical and network engine scaled and edited by ourselves for our needs (Torque 3D), we have main feature (complete terraforming) implemented, inventory (UO style with some additional tweaks), preset buildings construction, ranged combat and few other game aspects also implemented. Still, we have a lot of work to do, and will happy to accept any kind of help, you are willing to offer. Read more on our helping hand page.
Por lo que he visto, terraforming, combate estilo mount and blade, housing, uff de todo, creo que tiene muy buena pinta.
